The DSR Dining Chair was considered a pioneer of its time as the first industrially manufactured plastic chair in 1950’s. This kids dining or play chair features a moulded plastic seat with polished chrome steel legs., the waterfall seat edge promotes an ergonomic base for extended periods of sitting, reducing pressure on thighs. It was fully exploited the strengths of the ABS plastic material: moldability, rigidity, pleasant tactile qualities, suitability for industrial manufacturing methods. By using the ABS plastic, which was previously unknown in the furniture industry, it successfully developed the shell designs for serial production. After the debut at the ‘Low-Cost Furniture Design’ competition organised by the Museum of Modern Art in 1948, the Plastic Armchair (A-shell) and Plastic Side Chair (S-shell) were launched on the market in 1950 as the very first mass-produced plastic chairs in the history of furniture, when  DSR Dining Chair was born at that time.
